Carbon trading is dead

By Eco Guy 3:48am 8th November 2010
Carbon trading in the US is dead - the market set up to trade it is about to close down for lack of business.

Basically the market that was to have traded carbon in the US, the Chicago Climate Exchange, is dead and buried.

The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) announced on October 21, 2010 that it will cease carbon trading this year.

Although given the lack of coverage in the media you would be forgiven for not knowing about this significant climb down in the US on carbon trading.

See Carbon Trade Ends on Quiet Death of Chicago Climate Exchange for more information.

If you don't want to see Carbon Trading coming to Australia - please share this with your local member and media outlets.

As for our point of view, we actually consider this to be a Good Thing (tm) - as the actual basis behind why we should trade carbon to protect the environment is actually unsound and ill advised. We can now look forward to the monies saved be actually spent on things that will make a difference, instead of making a handful of people even richer.
