carbon trading does not reduce emissions

By Eco Guy 3:15am 7th October 2010
Carbon trading will not do a thing to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment; in fact it could end up doing the exact opposite as businesses use it as a way to create profit.

Carbon Trading does not work

You do not have to take my word for it, have a look at these following articles and links..

So whats the alternative?

If you really want to help the environment, there are quite a few options:
  • Properly educate people at a grass roots level about being really Eco - i.e. read the articles on this site for starters;
  • Governments could do more to give incentives to manufacturers to produce more energy efficient products, both in terms of energy used in production and their life (i.e. tax breaks and standards).
  • Think about 'reusing' instead of 'recycling' - the most environmentally friendly thing you can do with waste is find another local practical use for it.
Basically, you don't really need a massive bureaucratic central market system to act in a way that is more environmentally friendly - you can do a lot by your direct action and education.
